BTS RM ‘s recent honor has sparked heated debates online. Recently, it was announced that RM was included in a list created by The Pixel Project . The Pixel Project is a non-profit organization “ whose mission is to raise awareness, funds, and volunteer power for the cause to end violence against women through campaigns, initiatives, projects, and programs at the intersection of social media, new technologies, and popular culture/the Arts. ” RM was included in The Pixel Project’s “16 Male Role Models Helping to Stop Violence Against Women” list, with the organization citing the steps he took in order to address concerns of misogynistic lyrics. The list was shared on the organization’s website on December 4, but was only recently discovered and reposted on X. While many were proud of the idol’s inclusion, others shared vastly different opinions. Some netizens felt that RM’s inclusion in the list was not appropriate, citing the idol’s past interactions with an accused rapist. Many, however, pointed to the actions of fans, claiming the idol did not act as a role model and discourage misogynist behavior, in addition to the contributions of the others on the list. right right... https://t.co/JiDKlqhFf5 pic.twitter.com/BwUMyjV0OX — ted12 (@ohmyyeojin) December 12, 2024 meanwhile he has never, not even with a single word, attempted to tell his fans he does not stand for s#xually harassing female idols under the pretext of defending him because ✨image✨ https://t.co/er4tzGsUAO — ۟ (@nwjns1st) December 12, 2024 he helping to stop violence against women??? Since the rebels' sweep into Aleppo a week ago , government defences have crumbled at dizzying speed as insurgents seized a string of major cities and rose up in places where the rebellion had long seemed over. The twin threats to strategically vital Homs and the capital Damascus now pose an existential threat to Assad's decades of rule in Syria and the continued influence there of his main regional backer, Iran. A Homs resident, and army and rebel sources said the insurgents had breached government defences from the north and east of the city. A rebel commander said they had taken control of an army camp and villages outside the city. State television reported that the insurgents had not penetrated into Homs, although it said they were on the city outskirts, where it said the military was striking them with artillery and drones. Insurgents have seized almost the entire southwest within 24 hours, and they have advanced to within 30km of Damascus, as government forces fell back, rebels said. Underscoring the possibility of an uprising in the capital, protesters took to the streets in several Damascus suburbs, ripping up Assad posters and tearing down a statue of his father, former President Hafez al-Assad, uncontested by army or police. Some were joined by soldiers who had changed into civilian clothes and deserted, residents said. However, the state news agency reported that Assad remains in Damascus and the military said it was reinforcing around the capital and south. The pace of events has stunned Arab capitals and raised fears of a new wave of regional instability. Syria's civil war, which erupted in 2011 as an uprising against Assad's rule, dragged in big outside powers, created space for jihadist militants to plot attacks around the world and sent millions of refugees into neighbouring states. Assad had long relied on allies to subdue the rebels, with bombing by Russian warplanes, while Iran sent allied forces - including Lebanon's Hezbollah and Iraqi militia - to bolster the Syrian military and storm insurgent strongholds. But Russia has been focused on the war in Ukraine since 2022, and Hezbollah has suffered big losses in its own gruelling war with Israel, significantly limiting its ability or that of Iran to bolster Assad. US President-elect Donald Trump said the US should not be involved in the conflict and should "let it play out". Russia, Iran, Turkey The foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and the main rebels' backer Turkey met on Saturday and agreed on the importance of Syria's territorial integrity and on restarting a political process, they said. But there was no indication they agreed on any concrete steps, with the situation inside Syria changing by the hour. Russia has a naval base and airbase in Syria that have not only been important for its support of Assad, but also for its ability to project influence in the Mediterranean and Africa. Moscow has been supporting government forces with intense air strikes, but it was not clear if it could easily step up this campaign. Iran has said it would consider sending forces to Syria, but any immediate extra assistance would likely depend on Hezbollah and Iraqi militias. The Lebanese group sent some "supervising forces" to Homs on Friday but any significant deployment would risk exposure to Israeli airstrikes, Western officials said. Iran-backed Iraqi militias are on high alert, with thousands of heavily armed fighters ready to deploy to Syria, many of them amassed near the border. Iraq does not seek military intervention in Syria, a government spokesman said on Friday. Britain warned Assad that any chemical weapons use was a red line and would be met with "appropriate action". Battle for Homs The Homs resident said he had seen the rebels advance past a Syrian Air Force base in the north of the city that was considered a major defensive area. The resident later said fighting was audible in the city outskirts. An opposition figure in touch with rebel command and a Syrian army source both also said the insurgents were inside the city. Seizing Homs, an important crossroads between the capital and the Mediterranean, would cut off Damascus from the coastal stronghold of Assad's minority Alawite sect, and from Russia's air and naval base. In the south, the rapid collapse of government control could allow a concerted assault on the capital, the seat of Assad's power. The Syrian military pulled back as far as Saasa 30km from Damascus to regroup, a Syrian army officer said. Jarmana, where protesters pulled down a statue of Hafez al-Assad, is in the city's southern suburbs. Soldiers were deserting in the former rebel stronghold of Daraya and in Mezzeh, near a major airbase, residents said. The main rebel group, the Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, said it had a duty to protect governmental, international and UN offices in Syria. In a sign of government forces' collapse in the east, around 2000 Syrian soldiers crossed the border into Iraq to seek sanctuary, the mayor of Iraqi border town al-Qaem said. Syrian Kurdish fighters had captured eastern Deir el-Zor on Friday, jeopardising Assad's land connection to allies in Iraq. - Reuters
The 1 Single Stock That I’d Hold Forever in a TFSAIndiana aims to run its winning streak to five games Friday night when Nebraska welcomes the Hoosiers to Lincoln, Neb. Indiana (8-2, 1-0 Big Ten) has lost the past three meetings with Nebraska after winning seven straight. The Hoosiers are led by center Oumar Ballo, a transfer from Arizona who averages 13.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, and forward Malik Reneau (team-best 15.5 points and 6.4 rebounds). Reneau, according to Indiana, is one of five major-conference players to average at least 10 points per game with a field goal percentage of at least 60 and 80 percent from the free-throw line. Off Indiana's 82-67 home win over Minnesota on Monday, head coach Mike Woodson said there are things to work on going forward. "When you get a team down 15, 20 points, you got to remember how you got them down and continue to do the same things that got you the lead," said Woodson, "and I don't think we did that coming down the stretch." Nebraska's best win this season was over then-No. 14 Creighton in an in-state battle last month. But the Cornhuskers (6-2, 0-1) haven't played a very difficult schedule, and were blown out 89-52 by current No. 21 Michigan State on the road last weekend. The Spartans became the first team in 25 games to make more than 50 percent of their shots against Nebraska, so improved defense will be key for the Huskers. Nebraska was also outrebounded 48-19. "That hadn't been us all year, and that was the disappointing thing," coach Fred Hoiberg said. "The physicality of the game in this league ... we're going to see it every night. I've been pleased with how they've responded, but we'll see how they step up to the challenge Friday night." If Nebraska can turn things around on offense, it is 38-2 under Hoiberg when scoring at least 80 points, including 4-0 this season. Brice Williams is Nebraska's leading scorer at 17.5 points per game. Connor Essegian adds 13.0 ppg and shoots 42.6 percent from 3-point range. --Field Level Media

The combined profits of listed housing developers are expected to decline by more than 10% this year compared with 2023, driven by intense market competition and aggressive discount campaigns to capture dwindling demand. Sumitra Wongpakdee, managing director of property research and consultancy Terra Media and Consulting, said a sluggish market prompted developers to make significant adjustments this year. "Many developers resorted to price cuts and promotional campaigns to lift sales, willingly sacrificing profit margins to maintain their yearly revenue targets," she said. During the first nine months of 2024, 35 listed housing developers reported a combined net profit of 20.8 billion baht on revenue totalling 223 billion baht, compared with 38.5 billion baht in net profit and 331 billion baht in revenue for the full 2023. The net profit margin to revenue ratio dropped to 9.3%, down from 11.6% at the end of 2023 and 13.1% in 2022, according to Terra. The combined revenue of the 35 listed housing developers is projected to decrease by 5-8%, tallying around 300 billion baht by the end of 2024, noted the consultancy. Only a few developers are expected to meet their annual targets, having achieved more than 63% of their goals in the first nine months, while others fell short, with some reaching only 36-38% of their annual targets. According to Kasikorn Securities, 12 listed developers under its analysis reported a combined net profit of 7.5 billion baht in the third quarter, a decline of 8% year-on-year and 2% quarter-on-quarter. While the results aligned with market and internal estimates, they were underwhelming, as quarter-on-quarter growth was absent despite significant condo backlog transfers during the previous three months, according to the brokerage. The combined net profit for the first nine months of 2024 fell 20% year-on-year to 21.3 billion baht and is expected to plunge 11% by year-end, noted Kasikorn Securities. In the third quarter, the 12 listed developers, particularly those with joint ventures, saw a significant rise in transfer value both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, driven by the transfer of condo backlogs. This was reflected in a significant rise in profit contributions from investments. However, intense market competition, especially in low-rise houses, led to a drop in gross profit margin for residential properties. The 12 developers reported a decrease of 1.0 percentage point year-on-year and 0.5 percentage points quarter-on-quarter, reaching a four-year low of 30.6%. Given ongoing challenges, cash flow management strategies are crucial, said the brokerage. Project development has slowed, leading to reduced housing stock, which helps manage interest-bearing liabilities and improves cash flow. Kasikorn Securities reported the housing market in the third quarter remained under pressure because of weakening demand. Fierce competition further compressed gross profit margins, emphasising the critical need for effective cash flow management across the sector. While condo backlog transfers and the seasonal uptick in fourth-quarter transfers are expected to bolster profits, challenges persist, noted the brokerage. Several developers downgraded their 2024 project launches, leading to an anticipated 16% year-on-year decrease in the value of new project launches, totalling 314 billion baht. Fourth-quarter profits are likely to stand out, fuelled by high transfer volumes, the seasonality effect and the condo backlog, said Kasikorn Securities. The expiration of tax incentives for homes priced less than 7 million baht is expected to provide an added boost before year-end, yet there are no short-term catalysts in sight, noted the brokerage. A positive shift in macroeconomic conditions, coupled with lower interest rates and declining loan rejection rates, will be crucial for lifting sales and profits in 2025, potentially rekindling investor interest, according to Kasikorn Securities.Costco Wholesale Corporation Reports First Quarter Fiscal Year 2025 Operating Results
By now, you've probably heard the controversy around raw milk, also known as unpasteurized milk. In recent months, raw milk has become a major talking point on social media and in politics, with doctors repeatedly warning against its consumption which can lead to infections (some life-threatening) from harmful bacteria present in unpasteurized milk. The fact that drinking raw milk is up for debate might be surprising for anyone who has an elementary school education—or ever visited a farm—but in an era of misinformation fueled by social media platforms like TikTok, it's not so shocking. WellnessTok has been largely responsible for popularizing false claims that unpasteurized milk is more beneficial than pasteurized milk. A search of the term “raw milk" renders videos with thousands of views from tradwives and fitness bros all showing off their raw milk and explaining unsubstantiated health benefits. The search page also produces what seems to be a disclaimer from TikTok, shown at the top under a heading titled “Search Highlights," which summarizes the “different viewpoints” users share on raw milk. This disclaimer outlines “health risks" and cites videos from microbiologists and dietitians refuting unsubstantiated claims, but also lists the reasons why some users “support” drinking raw milk. Despite this lengthy disclaimer, users are still producing content promoting the consumption of raw milk. According to a May 2024 report from the Associated Press , weekly sales of raw milk have increased up to 65 percent from the same time period a year ago. The controversy has only been heightened by President-elect Donald Trump's appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy is one of the most outspoken public figures in support of raw milk consumption, leading it to become a symbol of right-wing empowerment . To eliminate confusion, we spoke to doctors, nutritionists, and dietitians to explain everything you need to know about raw milk, including health risks, alternatives, and more. What is raw milk? Raw milk, also known as unpasteurized milk, is the milk of an animal (usually from a cow) that is not pasteurized prior to consumption. Invented in 1864 by Louis Pasteur, pasteurization heats milk and other dairy products to a certain temperature for a certain amount of time to eliminate harmful pathogens that can be transmitted from animals. According to the American Dairy Association , pasteurization does not affect the nutritional value or taste of the milk. Dr. Jack Braha, DO, a board-certified gastroenterologist at Allied Digestive Health , points out that pasteurization has been used for over 100 years. “This process helps reduce the risk of transmitting infections from the animal source to humans,” he says. “Before we employed the pasteurization process, thousands of people died every year from infections due to ingesting unpasteurized milk.” According to the CDC , federal law prohibits the sale of raw milk across state lines, but state law governs intrastate sale. Is raw milk better than pasteurized milk? No, raw milk is not healthier or more beneficial than pasteurized milk. “There are some who made claims that raw milk is better for you, but these claims are largely false and not based on sound scientific evidence,” says Dr. Braha. “The multiple medical societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics , endorse a ban on the sale of unpasteurized milk products.” According to Dr. Amy Lee, MD, a board-certified physician in internal medicine, clinical nutrition, and obesity medicine and head of nutrition at Nucific , pasteurization can actually offer more nutrition than raw milk. “There is an assumption that anything not pasteurized is more natural; but in reality, they are pretty equal when it comes to benefits,” she says. "Pasteurized milk may contain fortified vitamins, minerals, and omegas that raw milk does not possess." What are the risks of drinking raw milk? Serious health risks can come with drinking unpasteurized milk. “Raw milk has been associated with multiple infections some of which could have serious health consequences or even be fatal,” says Dr. Braha. These infections include Campylobacter, Brucella, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella, and Escherichia coli (E. coli). Who can drink raw milk? Doctors warn against drinking raw milk for everyone, no matter your age and health. Due to the infections that can occur, "individuals who are prone to infection or immunocompromised should not drink raw milk,” says Dr. Lee. Dr. Baha adds that children and pregnant women are also especially vulnerable to infection and should not drink unpasteurized. “For those planning pregnancy, certain infections like listeria can lead to miscarriage or significant illness to the newborn baby,” says Dr. Baha. No matter your condition, drinking raw milk is strongly advised against overall. “Even if you are healthy, you are still at risk for infections and serious consequences of drinking raw milk," Dr. Baha continues. "Because of these risks, the FDA has mandated that all milk and milk products are pasteurized before final sale.” Why do people believe raw milk is beneficial? Given the serious health risks involved, why is raw milk becoming more popular ? “There is plenty of disinformation on the internet and social media suggesting that raw milk is better and safer than conventional milk,” says Dr. Baha. “This is not based on sound scientific evidence and multiple studies show no benefit of raw milk compared to conventional pasteurized milk. In fact, raw milk, places patients at higher risk of developing serious infections." To combat misinformation, Dr. Baha does not recommend raw milk to any of his patients, while Dr. Lee encourages her patients to educate themselves. “I recommend doing research, especially if there are underlying health conditions for the individual, as there are increased risks from raw milk based on the type of condition,” she says. Raw milk alternatives Here's what you can drink without putting your health at risk. “There are multiple ways to gain the nutritional value of milk in our diets,” says Dr. Baha. “For patients that do not wish to drink animal milk, we recommend alternative plant-based milks that are fortified with necessary, vitamins and nutrients.” When in doubt, always seek guidance from a health professional. “It is important that patients consult with their physician, especially for pregnant moms, infants and children," concludes Dr. Baha. Eagles receivers Smith and Brown complain about vanishing pass offense during winning streakCanada is already examining tariffs on certain US items following Trump’s tariff threatSpurs travel to Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday reeling from a disappointing home loss to Ipswich before the international break. The club’s problems have multiplied during the past fortnight with midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur handed a seven-match domestic ban on Monday and Cristian Romero (toe) joining a lengthy list of absentees. However, Postecoglou remains bullish about Tottenham’s progress and acutely aware of the scrutiny set to come his way if they stay 10th. “Christmas is a joyous occasion, irrespective, and I think it should be celebrated. If we’re still 10th then people won’t be happy, I won’t be happy, but we might not be 10th,” Postecoglou pointed out before nine games in 30 days. “Certainly for us I think it’s a significant period because you look at those games and we’ve got the league where we’ve got to improve our position and a couple of important European fixtures that can set us up for the back half of the year, also a Carabao Cup quarter-final. “At the end of that period we could be in a decent position for a strong second half of the year, so for us it is an important period. “You know there’s no more international breaks, so the full focus is here. You can build some momentum through that, or if things don’t go well you could get yourself into a bit of a grind. I take a wider perspective on these things because I know how fickle it can be, but we need to address our position for sure. “And if we’re 10th at Christmas, yeah it won’t be great. There’d be a lot of scrutiny and probably a lot of scrutiny around me, which is fair enough, but that’s not where I plan for us to be.” Tottenham’s immediate efforts to move up the table will require them ending City’s two-year unbeaten home run in the Premier League. The champions have lost their last four matches in all competitions, but have some key personnel back for Saturday’s clash and will aim to toast Pep Guardiola’s new contract with a victory. Postecoglou was pleased to see Guardiola commit to a further two seasons in England, adding: “I love the fact that there’s a massive target out there that can seem insurmountable. “I look at it the other way. I go, ‘imagine if you knock him off, that’d be something’. “I’m at the stage of my life where I’d rather have the chance of knocking him off than missing that opportunity. “When greatness is around, you want to be around it. And hopefully it challenges you to be like that as well.” Saturday’s fixture will be Postecoglou’s 50th league game in charge of Spurs and he knows what is required to bring up three figures. A post shared by Premier League (@premierleague) “No European football, significant player turnover, change of playing style. Where did I think we’d be after 50 games? God knows. “It could have been a whole lot worse, but when you look at it in the current prism of we’re 10th, you’re going ‘it doesn’t look good’ and I understand that and we have to improve that. “But over the 50 games, I think there’s enough there that shows we are progressing as a team and we are developing into the team we want. “The key is the next 50 games, if they can be in totality better than the first 50? First, that means I’m here but second, I think we’ll be in a good space.”
